Reported Speech

Definition of Reported Speech is reporting what some body else says.

When the main verb of the sentence is in the past tense, The tense in the reported satatement is changed

Present - Past

• He said, "Its Hot"  -  He said it was Hot

Past - Past Perfect

• He said, "I thaught online Yesterday."  -  He said He had thaught online Yesterday.

As well as tense changes, other words in direct speech need to be changed when they are reported

example :

• Will > Would
• Can > Could
• Must > Had to
• Shall > Should
• May > Might

you can use "that" is optional after the main verb
